AI music, streaming wars and more

Hi there

here comes this week’s roundup of music tech news. The most prominent topics were (and probably will be for a while) Artificial Intelligence and its potential impact on music, and the ongoing fight for market dominance between streaming services.

Two other interesting things I stumbled upon this week:

  1. Check this interview with Deborah Mannis-Gardner who worked on clearing the samples in De La Soul’s albums to finally release those legendary songs digitally.

  2. This company scrapes Spotify to le you dive deep into your Spotify data by asking questions to their AI.

Now, enjoy reading and have a fantastic weekend.

Cheers,
Matt

A BBC documentary, first broadcast on the 6th of September 2016, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Massive Attack's seminal debut album Blue Lines. The program not only explores Massive Attack's background and formation but also delves into the burgeoning Bristol music scene of the 1970s and 1980s. The documentary is narrated by actor Paul McGann, and features new interviews with long-term Massive Attack co-writer/producer Neil Davidge, The Wild Bunch's DJ Milo, drum and bass superstar Roni Size and The Pop Group's Mark Stewart.
