MusicTech Rewinder - Ukraine Music Tech Startups & News about Metaverse, Copyright & Licensing, Streaming

Hey there,

this week's newsletter edition is a bit different. It still contains the most recent news in music tech but also something else.

A few days ago, I had the pleasure to meet Grigory Fatyanov. He is the CEO of House of Culture "Masterskaya" in Kyiy.

Grigory contacted me and asked if we could have a chat about music tech from Ukraine. To be honest, I didn't know anything about the music tech scene in Ukraine.

We had a call the next day and I was stunned that there is such a lively and innovative scene in Ukraine that works on technology-driven solutions for the music ecosystem. Grigory is very well connected to all sorts of music and technology organizations there. He then told me that in June 2021, he organized the first-ever «Ukraine Music Tech Weekend» (including a hackathon), together with the innovation hub UNIT.CITY and Sector X accelerator. This year, they planned to open a VC fund and further develop some of the projects from the hackathon. They rented an office at UNIT.CITY, but then that terrible war changed everything.

Grigory is now in Germany and he is looking to build bridges between people and organizations here in Europe and Ukraine. His partners are still in Ukraine and some of the startups there are still operating - even under those horrible conditions.

I start this newsletter with a list of some of those startups. Please check them out and if you are interested in a collaboration with any of them, or if you would like to learn more about the music tech scene in Ukraine, or how you can help and support them, please reach out to me, or to Grigory directly. He has some more exciting projects that he would love to share.

Now enjoy reading and have a wonderful weekend.

Cheers,

Matt
